Is it necessary to include company details in your CV?

During my efforts to make my resume better, I tested many things including advice from my friends, an online applicant tracking system, testing, and feedback.

Even with gaining more skills, 2023 should not be a year for seeking new employment!

When I recreate my friend’s resume today (18 October 2023) I need to know where to include the company name and title of the resume.

With HR vision:

As HR, I view my resume in Person to Person view (not through an ATS system). What matters most is who you are, what you can offer, and what your pros and cons are. If that’s ok, then about your work experience, what is your job? Where have you worked?

Let’s ask again, “where did you work at?”

“Some random company name”, how do I know that? I can search, but some old companies no longer exist.

But if in the CV have some information like mine:

This makes sense to me (as a person who checks resumes), so let’s ask again.

You might want to include company details in your CV in these situations:

  • It can be helpful to mention your experience working for a prestigious or well-known company in your CV, showing potential employers that you have high-level experience.
  • If you are applying for a job in a specific industry, it can be useful to list any companies you’ve worked for. This shows potential employers that you have relevant experience.
  • If you’re applying for a job in a different country, it can be helpful to include the names and addresses of your previous employers in that country. This shows potential employers that you have the right to work in that country.

I would suggest writing a line or two about the industry of the company, maybe more if you work for a large company with a lot of departments. Adding the company’s website address is also a good practice.
